Katrina Deininger, soprano, hails from the Seattle area. Most recently, she traveled to schools around the greater Puget Sound area to perform the role of Gretel in Hansel and Gretel with Northwest Opera in School’s Etc. (NOISE). In the summer of 2017, she appeared as Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore at Asheville Lyric Opera in Asheville, North Carolina. Earlier in 2017, Katrina had the unique opportunity to perform in the Greek Chorus in Oedipus, an opera by Harry Partch, which is performed on instruments created by the composer. She has also recently performed the role of Bianca in Puget Sound Concert Opera’s production of La Rondine and the role of Lydie in Vespertine Opera’s production of Gabriel Fauré’s Pénélope. While at University of Washington, Katrina appeared as Pamina in the student cast of University of Washington Opera Theatre and Pacific MusicWorks’ joint production of Die Zauberflöte and as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. Other roles include: Giannetta in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers, Edith in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance, and Madame Pompous in Too Many Sopranos.
This July, Katrina will attend Aquilon Music Festival in McMinnville, Oregon, where she will sing the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. In the summer of 2017, Katrina was a Young Artist at Asheville Lyric Opera, where she sang in a program of scenes that were performed around Western North Carolina. Katrina has participated in summer programs such as OperaWorks’ Advanced Artist Program, Up North Vocal Institute, and ViVace Vancouver.
Katrina studies with Dr. Kari Ragan. She has a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance from University of Puget Sound, and graduated with her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Washington in 2015.
